DNA barcoding is a method of identifying organisms to the species level. Due to its remoteness, many deep-sea species do not have DNA barcodes.
This large mural (4ft x 16ft or 1.2m x 4.87m) displays the work that is currently underway at UAF and Smithsonian NMNH to sequence DNA barcodes for zooplankton from the Giacomini and Quinn seamounts, further helping scientists measure ocean diversity.
